The American Yawp est un manuel d’histoire gratuit, ouvert et en ligne sur l’histoire des États-Unis. L’ouvrage a été conçu par plusieurs professeurs dans des collèges américains, et tente de faire une histoire factuelle des États-Unis. Le groupe d’auteurs décrit leur intention comme suit:
